Yet more photos of the Lummi Island Ferry! Today was a great day for taking long shots from the island as it was clear and the sun was out. I am behind in my photo per day quota so I took a series of photos of Whatcom Chief, the ferry that Jessica loves and is making headlines in the Bellingham Harold. There is a small viewing deck near the ferry landing and that is where I took these photos today.

Jessica was/is the youngest person to ever ride the Lummi Is. Ferry! 1975, Nooksack River was in maximum flood stage with the levi broken through and the ferry had to travel 1hr. south to the B’ham dock to load and unload everyone. I had birthed Jessica in Mt. Vernon at noon on Dec. 6th and boarded the ferry with her at 7:00 pm! Friends and neighbors knew we were coming home with new baby and brought a magnum of champagne and cigars and we floated home!! Needless to say I was exhausted!!!!!!!!!! Jessica slept the whole way!! Friends built a fire in our little cabin and brought us food and had a toasty welcome for out little baby, Jessica! A great memory of a wonderful day and loving friends!

  3. Thanks!!! Great shots! I really enjoyed looking at them. I sure hope all the drama gets sorted out with the tribe. I just think it is ridiculous.
