Leaving Skagway Panorama

Leaving Skagway Panorama In my visit to Skagway to visit Terry Williams I took the fast ferry out of Haines. I was surprized at how fast it goes, it has 4 engines and a Cat type hull, totally cool. There were 7 cruise ships in Skagway that day, they can only fit a couple in the harbor at a time. Lynn Canal is like a fjord where the mountains go right down into the water, which allows for large ships to be near shore.

Love that place!!! The closest thing to a fjord I’d ever seen! And we had Orca’s dancing along beside the ferry when we went up. Got to have sushi lunch with Terry Williams and visit with Rosemary Leibert and some of her kids – great family business! Bears and waterfalls all over the place. Even went bear sighting with Chris Nowicki and toured the Alaska Arts building where Chris works most every summer. We had a wonderful time!

I love this shot! The movement of the flag really catches my attention, especially when I zoom in. I need to go back to Alaska!
