Heron On Barn 12-01-2011
Today on Lummi Island the rain is melting last night’s snow and many pastures are partially flooded. Lots of rain brings Herons in from shore to hunt for food in open areas where mice, worms and other small animals have been forced out of their holes by water. A barn roof is a good vantage-point for birds of prey and sometimes even herons can be seen there.

Love it! Old-Man-of-the-Barn!
I didn’t realize that was why they came out of the woodwork. Great shot!
Thank you!
With poor light and rain it’s hard to get a good long shot but he wasn’t movin’.
