Fog Woman's Hat

Fog Woman's Hat

This hat is painted the misty green of cold northern waters with Raven painted in white to show him when he still had white feathers. The Salmon breaching from the crown of the hat is a representative of all the Salmon of whom Fog Woman was the keeper and safe-guard. The Salmon is spouting a stream of pure white water to remind us that in the very great long ago, water was a clean, pure substance. The beadwork netting around the brim of the hat is a tip of the hat to gill nets and the interaction between humans, Salmon and Fog Woman.
