Bronze Round Eagle Tile
This round Northwest Style design within a square was carved in wax by Adam Mills and lost wax cast by him in Bronze. We love the round shape but thought that it might be more difficult to use alongside standard tile applications so Adam put the round shape within the square. The wax tile shape was covered in a ceramic shell and the wax melted out to leave a space for molten Bronze to be poured into. The Bronze tile was then brought to a high polish and an Antique Patina with a cupric scrub applied on the low points of the carving. The size is 6 inches by 6 inches, ¼ inch thick and totally compatible with any commercial sized tile or stone.
It’s a fascinating challenge to design in the Northwest Coast formline style in a prescribed shape. The round shape is probably the most challenging and fun for the artist. The circle is the quintessential symbol of life and to design Eagle in that shape is most pleasing and embodies the whole life cycle of the Eagle.
Living on the Northwest Coast brings a special blessing of seeing Eagles almost every day. We play a game of counting Eagles every time we go out and of course, late winter-early spring is the most active time for eagle sightings around here, when the fields are pretty bare and the trees are still leafless. We also have the added joy of having at least 8 nests in the immediate area to view and observe the real life cycle of the Eagles. The nests are huge! The mothers are larger than their mates. The mating time seems like the middle of winter to us, but in order for the eggs to hatch and the babies to grow large enough and get out of the nests in due time they must get busy with the egg laying early in the spring! Another fascination for us is to watch the young eagles in the early summer practicing their wing movements perched on the side of the nest. We really enjoy it and appreciate watching this glorious segment of the life cycle of the eagle.
We’re excited about this Bronze Eagle tile and the possibility of bringing this to your home. If this appeals to you contact us and let’s see how we can celebrate Eagles together.

Love the “Eagle with Attitude” shot!
Probably down from Alaska, with an AK attitude.
So cool! I think this tile would look amazing in a backsplash in a kitchen or bathroom. It would look pretty cool in a fireplace surround too. So many cool possibilities with this tile.
Also, the green around the edges is just beautiful. I reminds me of the ocean or the PNW.
We saw a bald eagle the other day out in the desert. I was so surprised but I guess eagles used to live in this area. It was nice!
i really love this! the bronze is such a beautiful medium to work with. it really feels alive.
