3 Mezzotints by Chris Nowicki
Here are three mezzotints created by Chris Nowicki. I did not do justice to his art with these photos. They are very large for a mezzotint, at least 24×18 inches, as I remember. I had difficulty with the photos because they are large, but if not totally accurate, give a good idea of the amount of work that went into just one of these magnificent prints. There are also some white spots within the dark areas that are not there at all. This is important because it is very hard to get complete saturation of dark ink with a mezzotint using a hand rocker, and these prints are perfect! I thought that showing the prints at a large size would give an idea of what they really look like in real life.

Chris: I LOVE the steam engine! I really did not appreciate this print until you explained how it was made. When I first saw it I thought it was a doctored black and white photo, then you explained how it was done so I went back and looked at them VERY carefully, WOW! Not only is it a beautiful image, but as an engraver I understand and appreciate the planning, and the meticulous execution! Thank You!
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! I would love to hear more about the process that you go through to make these. Just stunning!
Truly amazing! And it is very much fun to hear the story of the process. Much different than I had expected. Jessica, Check out his articles on the AA site. Very interesting.
